An assistant coach for the Creighton University women's basketball team was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Carrie Moore, 26, of Bellevue, was arrested after employees at a McDonald's restaurant found her passed out in her car at the drive-through, Bellevue police Officer Sean Vest said.
Officers were called to the restaurant near 21st Street and Cornhusker Road at 2:48 a.m. Employees were able to rouse Moore and asked her to park and wait for her food. Meanwhile, they notified police.
"The employees did the right thing," Vest said. "They saw she was not in any condition to drive."
He said Moore was awake when officers arrived and she cooperated with them. They had her take a breath test after they smelled alcohol on her, Vest said. Her blood-alcohol level was unavailable late Sunday night.
Moore told police that she had been at the Creighton men's basketball game late Saturday and had a few drinks afterward.
She was taken to the Sarpy County jail, where she posted bail.
Jim Flanery, Creighton's head coach, and CU athletic director Bruce Rasmussen both declined comment. "We can't (won't) comment on personnel matters,'' Rasmussen said in a text.
