    Cantu helps Jays improve to 7-0

    Alexis Cantu delivered at the plate and on the mound for Creighton in a 5-1 win against Northern Illinois in the Fairfield Inn & Suites Classic Sunday morning. Cantu hit a three-run home run in the opening inning and pitched the first four innings for her second win of the season. Becca Changstrom picked up the save with two scoreless innings. The Bluejays 7-0 start is their best since 1987.

    Creighton games rained out

    Creighton's games at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Classic on Saturday were canceled due to rain in the area. The games against North Texas and Sam Houston State will not be made up. Sunday's game against Northern Illinois is still scheduled for a 9 a.m. start.

    Creighton stretches win streak to six games

    Creighton hitters worked 12 walks from South Dakota State pitchers en route to an 8-1 win over the Jackrabbits on Friday at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Classic. The win was Creighton’s sixth straight to start the season, equaling the second-best start in school history. Creighton, which had defeated Northern Illinois 5-4 in eight inning earlier in the day, is 6-0 for the fourth time in school history. In two of the previous 6-0 starts, the Jays lost game seven, while the 1987 team started...

    Jays’ bats hot in Arkansas cold

    Parkas were the most important piece of equipment Creighton packed last weekend for its four-game series at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. “The temperature was in the 30s and the wind chill was below that,” coach Brent Vigness said. “Saturday, especially, was the coldest game I’ve ever participated in.”

    The No. 38 Nebraska men's tennis team defeated Creighton 6-1 on Sunday. The Bluejays dropped their first dual of the season after starting 3-0 for the first time since 2007. Nebraska won every match except No. 6 singles.

    No-hitter for CU

    PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Creighton finished a four-game sweep of Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday, taking game one 10-2 and the nightcap 12-0 on a combined no-hitter by Sammy Snygg and Alexis Cantu. Snygg (1-0) struck out a career-high eight through five innings. Cantu then sat down all six batters she faced, including three via strikeout, to log the first combined no-hitter by the Bluejay pitching staff since Feb. 17, 2007.

    CU wins two against Arkansas-Pine Bluff

    Creighton swept a doubleheader Saturday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff to open its softball season. The Bluejays won the opener 18-0, setting a school record for margin of victory, then followed with a 14-2 win in the nightcap. Freshman Allie Mathewson batted leadoff in both games, finishing 6 for 10 with five RBIs and five runs scored. Junior Amy Baker went 6 for 7 with seven RBIs.

    Creighton women top South Dakota State

    The Creighton women's tennis beat South Dakota State 6-1 on Saturday, improving to 2-2 in duals. Creighton won all three doubles matches to start the match, then five of the six singles points. Jennie Hartjes earned the win at No. 1 singles with with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Bryna Nasenbeny.

The Bluejays plan to use the rare four-game softball series, with doubleheaders Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m., to parcel out playing time to as many Bluejays as possible. "That's one of the goals this weekend," Creighton coach Brent Vigness said. "We may start four to five different people the second game."
