Shocker freshmen happy to be back home in Nebraska
The dates have been circled on calendars since Wichita State’s baseball schedule came out last fall. For Shocker freshmen Casey Gillaspie, Taylor Doggett and A.J. Ladwig, Wichita State’s final four games of the regular season provide them with a chance to come home to play in front of family and friends.

Iowa edges Creighton in the ninth inning
Most of the innocent eyes fortunately had left TD Ameritrade Park before things turned gory for Creighton in Tuesday's game against Iowa. About 9,000 school children were in the crowd of 11,479 on Kids' Day, and they watched with varying degrees of interest as the Bluejays built a four-run lead in the first five innings. Few were around when Iowa tied it in the eighth and won it 5-4 on pinch-hitter Bryan Niedbalski's ninth-inning sacrifice fly.

Future for NU-CU series in doubt
A contrast in scheduling philosophy will break a string of meetings between Nebraska’s top two college volleyball programs this fall. For the first time since 2003, Nebraska and Creighton are not scheduled to play one another, and it is not clear if there are plans to resume the series in the near future.

Servais sees Bluejays making positive strides
Creighton and Dallas Baptist each got something out of the next-to-last weekend series of college baseball’s regular season. In spite of losing two of three games to the Patriots, the Bluejays emerged from the series with a little more belief that they have a chance to make some noise in the Missouri Valley tournament.

Jays lose series, gain confidence
Creighton found itself tantalizing close Sunday to recording a rare and significant series victory. But before the Bluejays could get out of the eighth inning, Dallas Baptist had rallied for four runs that produced an 8-6 victory in front of 1,705 at TD Ameritrade Park.

How can CU hoops build to stay in high-rise district?
Creighton and Xavier treated basketball fans in Cincinnati to a show in the final hours of 2002. With future NBA players headlining each team, the Bluejays and Musketeers staged a shootout to remember. Kyle Korver made eight 3-pointers and scored 32 points to keep Creighton close, but Xavier pulled out a 75-73 victory when David West, a future two-time NBA All-Star, made a basket in the closing seconds.

Doug McDermott will be on magazine covers. Coaches and media will slot his team between 10 and 20 in the preseason polls. Jay Bilas and Doug Gottlieb will mention Creighton so many times, you'll lose count. In six months, the Bluejays open the most anticipated basketball season in school history.
